Tom Boehnke Tom is originally from Pittsburgh, PA.  While in high school, Tom began working with a construction/remodeling company and really loved the work.  However, after high school he traveled to Denver, Colorado, to attend the University of Denver.   During summer breaks, Tom returned home and continued carpentry work.   Tom graduated, at the top of his class, with a dual major in Psychology and Sociology.   He was then recruited by Wright State University in Applied Behavior Science, a research and statistical program, where he graduated with his Master’s degree.   Tom spent the next 17 years working within the mental health field.

In 1999, Tom felt it was time to return to what he had always loved since high school, so he started a whole new career path.  He took a job with a remodeling company as a carpenter!  He soon moved to being a Lead Carpenter and in 2005 was promoted to be the company’s Project Manager/Estimator.  During those five years, Tom earned four additional NARI certifications and served as the Educational Chair for the Miami Valley NARI.  He developed a strong passion for Universal Design Remodeling and wanted to work with older individuals and people with special needs so that they can remain in their homes.  Armed with the skills, knowledge, and a supportive family and church, Tom ventured out on his own and Universal Remodeling Solutions was born.

Tom’s certifications include:

  • Certified Lead Carpenter
  • Certified Remodeler
  • Certified Renovator
  • Green Certified Professional (first certification awarded in Ohio)
  • Universal Design Certified Remodeler

Tom is married with two children. Away from work he enjoys coaching his son’s soccer team, playing hockey, skiing, and hiking.
